FTSG for Contracture Thumb

Burn wound on the dorsal radial aspect of the left thumb creating a contracture and restricting flexion. Burn scar excision and replacement with a full thickness skin graft can restore function and correct the contracture.

The burn scar is being excised in preparation of placing a full thickness skin graft.

Further excision of the contracted skin.

Full thickness skin graft is sutured to the recipient site after complete excision of the contracted skin.

Early post operative result indicating complete take of the skin graft.

Flexion of the metacarpo-phalangeal and inter-phalangeal joints as well as opposition is much improved after the graft has healed.
